Executive Interview: TruSkin’s Janlshree Trivedi on Building Consumer Trust

TruSkin has built strong consumer trust through a focus on science-backed formulation and a commitment to transparency, with the #1 rated vitamin C serum on Amazon. We sat down with Jalshree Trivedi, TruSkin’s OTC & Cosmetics Product Development Manager, to explore how behind-the-scenes expertise translates into products that deliver consistent, dependable results.

Q: TruSkin has earned exceptional consumer trust in a crowded skincare market. What role does technical formulation play in that success?

A: Consumer trust is built when a product performs consistently — and that starts with formulation science. At TruSkin, our goal is to create formulas that are effective, approachable, and skin-friendly. Every technical choice matters, from the active ingredient form and pH balance to texture and stability, and how the product feels in a daily routine.

Our flagship Vitamin C Serum is a strong example. Instead of simply chasing the highest vitamin
C percentage, we use Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (SAP), a gentler and more stable form of
vitamin C, to support brighter, smoother, and firmer-looking skin while keeping the overall
experience balanced and comfortable. That balance between efficacy and skin comfort is what
helps turn first-time customers into loyal TruSkin users. In skincare, trust is earned one
application at a time.

Q: How do you balance efficacy with skin compatibility in your formulations?

A: We believe the best skincare formulas should nourish the skin and deliver visible results
without feeling harsh or irritating the skin. That balance starts with thoughtful ingredient selection, optimized pH, and the right concentration of active ingredients. This is why we use SAP, a gentler and more stable form of vitamin C, to support brighter-, smoother-, and
firmer-looking skin while remaining skin-friendly. We also include hydrating, skin-supporting ingredients like Cassia Angustifolia Seed Polysaccharide, a soothing and hydrating botanical
extract often used as a hyaluronic acid alternative.

Our facial serums are dermatologist tested for skin compatibility, and our Vitamin C Serum has
been evaluated in a human clinical study, where participants reported improvements in
hydration, brightness, firmness, and overall skin appearance. For us, efficacy means more than
powerful ingredients — it means creating skincare people can trust, enjoy, and use every day

Q: When customers use your Vitamin C serums, what outcomes matter most to them?

A: Our customers want to see visible improvement in skin tone and texture, hydration, and
formulas that won’t cause irritation. Skincare requires thoughtful formulations and reliability
under real-world conditions. That consistency is critical. In high-stakes categories, failure is
noticed instantly. If a serum causes redness or doesn’t deliver visible results, the customer is
gone. Thankfully, reviewers consistently mention brighter-looking skin, reduced appearance of
fine lines, and how gentle our serums feel compared to harsher alternatives.

Q: How does TruSkin maintain quality and performance at scale?

A: We focus on dermatologist testing, rigorous quality control, and partnerships with world-class manufacturers. We also prioritize solving real pain points. For example, our sunscreen addresses a major frustration: mineral sunscreens that leave a white cast. By developing a lightweight, universal-tint formulation, we solved a technical challenge that affects daily usability. Quality control isn’t optional when customers depend on your products to perform every single day.

Q: What advice would you give companies in other industries who want to build similar consumer confidence?

A: Invest in the technical fundamentals that customers may never see, but will always feel. For us, that means formulation science, ingredient sourcing, and dermatological testing. For others, it might be materials engineering or compliance infrastructure. When you design products for high-stakes use, transparency and expertise become your competitive advantages. Customers reward brands that deliver dependable results
