Computype’s Emissions Reduction Targets Approved by the SBTi

Computype’s greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The SBTi Target Validation Team has confirmed that our scope 1 and scope 2 target ambition is aligned with a 1.5°C pathway — the most ambitious designation currently available through the SBTi process.

This approval marks an important step in formally aligning our emissions reduction strategy with the latest climate science.

What Is the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi)?

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a global organization that enables companies to set greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets that are consistent with the level of decarbonization required to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.

Rather than allowing organizations to define their own climate goals independently, the SBTi provides criteria and technical validation to ensure targets are grounded in climate science. When a company’s targets are approved, it means they have been assessed against established methodologies and meet defined ambition thresholds.

For small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), targets are evaluated under the SBTi’s SME Criteria Assessment Indicators.

Computype’s Approved Target

The following is the official approved target wording:

Computype commits to reduce scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions 50.4% by 2030 from a 2018 base year, and to measure and reduce its scope 3 emissions. Computype commits to reach net-zero by 2050. As part of this, it commits to reduce scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions 95% by 2050 from a 2018 base year.

These targets were validated against the SBTi SME Criteria (Version 1.1) and will be listed on the SBTi Target Dashboard.

What These Targets Mean

Greenhouse gas emissions are categorized into three scopes:

  • Scope 1 – Direct emissions from owned or controlled sources
  • Scope 2 – Indirect emissions from purchased energy
  • Scope 3 – Indirect emissions across the value chain

By committing to reduce scope 1 and scope 2 emissions by 50.4% by 2030, Computype is targeting measurable operational emissions reductions within this decade.

By committing to net-zero by 2050—including a 95% reduction across scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions—we are establishing a long-term decarbonization pathway that includes value chain emissions.

Scope 3 emissions often represent a significant portion of total organizational emissions. Measuring and reducing these emissions requires collaboration with suppliers, logistics providers, and other partners.

Why 1.5°C Alignment Matters

The SBTi classifies target ambition based on temperature alignment. A 1.5°C-aligned target represents the most ambitious level currently available through the SBTi framework.

Alignment with a 1.5°C trajectory means the emissions reductions are consistent with pathways that limit global warming to 1.5°C, as outlined in climate science assessments. It reflects a level of decarbonization consistent with avoiding the most severe climate impacts.

What Happens Next

Approval of science-based targets is not an endpoint. It establishes a structured, measurable framework for emissions reduction.

Computype will:

  • Implement emissions reduction strategies aligned with the approved targets
  • Continue measuring and managing scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions
  • Report progress against these targets annually

The SBTi will publish Computype’s approved target wording and temperature alignment on its Target Dashboard.

A Structured, Accountable Path Forward

Setting science-based targets formalizes a long-term commitment to emissions reduction that is externally validated and transparent. It requires measurable progress and ongoing disclosure.

As expectations around supply chain transparency and decarbonization continue to grow across industries — including laboratories, medical manufacturing, industrial production, and logistics — establishing approved science-based targets provides clarity around our emissions reduction trajectory.

Computype’s approved targets reflect a structured approach to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in line with climate science, with defined milestones in 2030 and 2050.

We will continue to report progress and refine our strategy as required under evolving SBTi criteria and best practices.
